The Summit partnered with the U.S. Navy to offer Scouts and Venturers who attended the 2013 National Scout Jamboree the opportunity to earn the Summit SEAL Challenge Award. Youth had to successfully pass the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test (PST) while at the Summit to earn this elite award.The U.S. Navy prepared an eight-week training guide. To pass the test, youth had to do at least:

  • A 500-yard breaststroke or sidestroke in 12 minutes, 30 seconds
  • 50 push-ups in 2 minutes
  • 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes
  • 10 dead-hang pull-ups in 2 minutes
  • A 1.5-mile run in 10 minutes, 30 seconds

Before the jamboree youth had to be the following:

Participants had to complete the following at the jamboree:

  • The jamboree curriculum course for any one of the following: the canopy tour, the Barrels, the Bows, Mariner Adventure, the ropes challenge course, climbing skills, or mountain biking (High Gear or Low Gear) and the Garden Ground Mountain hike.
  • Obtain a passing score on the SEAL Physical Screening Test (maximum two attempts). The PST test is demanding and required disciplined preparation.
