Venturing Award requirements

The Venturing Award appears to have contradictory requirements that are simultaneously published by BSA national. This article will be updated when the 2014 Handbook for Venturers is available.

  1. Participate in a crew activity outside of a crew meeting.
  2. Participate in an interview conducted by your crew president and your Advisor.
  3. Complete Personal Safety Awareness training.
  4. State intention to join the crew during a crew induction ceremony.

Program level awards may be earned after May 2014; Venturers joining after this time begin with the Venturing Award. Venturers registered before May 2014 begin with the Discovery Award.

Requirement resources

  • Venturing Investiture Ceremony on the BSA scouting.org site. This investiture ceremony is a sample induction ceremony available on scouting.org/venturing. Crews are encouraged to develop a there own ceremony. The focus of the ceremony is to ask a young adult to voluntarily commit to living by the ideals of Scouting and to freely join the World Scout Movement.
