Serving as Leave No Trace Trainer can apply towards Positions of Responsibility requirements for Star and Life in a Boy Scout troop or Varsity Scout team; the position DOES NOT apply towards Eagle effective January 1, 2010 in a Boy Scout troop only.

Leave No Trace Trainer

Selection: Appointed Selected by: Senior Patrol Leader or Varsity Team Captain Reports to: Assistant Senior Patrol Leader or Varsity Team Captain

Leave No Trace Trainer is an official youth troop/team position of responsibility, effective January 1, 2010.

The Leave No Trace Trainer specializes in teaching Leave No Trace principles and ensures that the troop follows the principles of Leave No Trace on all outings such as camping and other outdoor activities. He can also help Scouts earn the Leave No Trace award. He should have a thorough understanding of and commitment to Leave No Trace. Ideally, he should have completed Leave No Trace training as well as earned both the Camping and Environmental Science merit badges.

Responsibilities:

• Sets a good example
• Enthusiastically and correctly wears the Scout uniform (all four parts).
• Shows scout spirit
