| Interpreting is a discontinued merit badge. Interpreting was first offered in 1911 was one of the original merit badges. It was merged into World Brotherhood in 1952.

Merit badge requirements
- 1. Carry on a simple but sustained conversation in a modern foriegn language for a period of not less than five minutes.
- 2. Listen to and translate a statement or address delivered in a modern foreign language and lasting not less than two minutes by a person to whom the language is a native tongue.
- 3. Write a simple letter in a modern foreign language in a subject given by the Counselors.
- 4. Read and translate from sight a passage of not less than 200 words from a book or newspaper, in any modern foreign language not native to the pupil.
