Serving as Instructor can apply towards Positions of Responsibility requirements for Star, Life, and Eagle.

Instructor

Selection: Appointed Selected by: Senior Patrol Leader or Varsity Team Captain Reports to: Assistant Senior Patrol Leader or Varsity Team Captain

The Instructor teaches Scouting skills.

Reports to

• Assistant Senior Patrol Leader in a Boy Scout troop.
• Team Captain in a Varsity Scout team.

Responsibilities

• Teaches basic Scouting skills in a troop/team and patrols/squads.
• Sets a good example.
• Enthusiastically and correctly wears the Scout uniform (all four parts).
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law.
• Shows Scout spirit

Equivalents

The Instructor is the youth instruction leader in its unit. Other youth instruction leaders are:

• Instructor - Boy Scouting and Varsity Scouting
• Specialist - Sea Scouting
