FOS

Friends of Scouting (FOS) is the annual council fund-raising campaign that provides Scout families, community organizations, and local businesses the opportunity to support Scouting in their communities.

Annual membership dues go directly to the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A Scout's unit dues stays with the unit to help pay for trips and other activities. None of that money helps your local council.

Why make an FOS Pledge?

You Friends of Scouting donation helps provide:

  • Summer Camps and Day Camps
  • Camporees, activities, and events
  • Staffing
  • Insurance
  • Scout Shops
  • Service Centers
  • Recruiting materials
  • Training
  • Program materials
  • Property Maintenance

How to Help

Scouts Needs your help: Please make sure your unit and all of the families in your unit are given the opportunity to support scouting. Contact your district’s Family Friends of Scouting chairman to schedule a unit presentation. You can also donate right now online with a one-time or automatic withdrawals from your checking account, debit card, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express Card: Online Friends of Scouting.

Recognition Gifts: Many councils offer special edition patches or other remembrance items to celebrate different levels of giving. Contact your local council for more information.

Make a Pledge: You can spread your Friends of Scouting over the course of the year. Ask your tax adviser if it will bee tax deductible for you! Also, many employers offer matching gift programs...

Matching Gifts

Hundreds of companies match gifts made by their employees. Some companies give financial contributions on behalf of the time you give as a volunteer. Here is a list of companies with matching programs. If you do not see your employer here, please don't assume they do not participate in the matching gifts program. Check with your human resources department for more information.

Other Opportunities

You can also make endowment gifts through the James E West Fellowship Program. The 1910 Society and the Founders Circle Award provide recognition for those who make significant contributions.
