Cub Scout Resident Camp and Webelos Resident Camp offer all of the fun of Cub Scout Day Camp plus camping:

  • Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Scouts have campfire programs and camp overnight.
  • Boys explore, learn, and grow while having fun outdoors.
  • Adventures might include Archery, BB-Guns, Fishing, Swimming, sports, squirt guns, games, and crafts.
  • Boys who attend Resident Camp or Day Camp are more likely to stay in Scouting.
  • Trained staffs insure a safe site and environment. National inspection teams insure standards are met.
  • Day Camps teach citizenship and encourage social development.

Webelos Resident Camp is Cub Scout Resident Camp designed specifically for Webelos.

“ Cub Scout and Webelos Scout resident camping is a council-organized, theme-oriented overnight camping program. It operates for at least two nights and is conducted under certified leadership at a camp approved by the council.

Each year, councils change their overall theme to offer different adventures. Examples of themes include Sea Adventure, Space Adventure, Athletes, Knights, Circus Big Top, American Indian Heritage, Folklore, and the World Around Us. Check with your council and district leaders for resident camp opportunities available in your area.

Tiger Cub Scouts may not attend Cub Scout Resident Camp but may attend Cub Scout Day Camp with their adult partner.

Program and themes

“ Cub Scout and Webelos Scout resident camping is a council-organized, theme-oriented, overnight camping program. It operates for at least two nights and is conducted under trained leadership at a camp approved by the council.

Resident camping typically includes the following outdoor program areas: Showmanship, Sportsmanship, Craftsmanship, Waterfront, Fitness, Campcraft, and Nature.

Each year, councils change their overall theme to offer different adventures. Examples of themes include Sea Adventure, Space Adventure, Athletes, Knights, Circus Big Top, American Indian Heritage, Folklore, and the World Around Us.

Training of the resident camp director and program director is provided through the National Camping School. All Cub Scout and Webelos Scout resident camps shall be conducted in accordance with established standards as given in National Standards for Cub Scout/Boy Scout Resident Camps, No. 19-108.

National Cub Scout and Webelos Resident Camp Standards

“ A Cub Scout or Webelos Scout resident camp is a council-organized camp of at least two consecutive nights duration and operates under trained leadership.
Some of the Mandatory and Quality Standards
  • M23: The buddy system of having two or more campers together is used in all appropriate activities, such as aquatics, backpacking, climbing/rappelling, COPE, off-camp activities, and in all Cub Scouting activities...
  • M25: Programs are age-appropriate for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. A range of programs is available based on their age and level of maturity. See Age Appropriate Chart in the Guide to Safe Scouting at [www.scouting.org/pubs/gss]...
  • M26: The on-site camp director is at least 21 (preferably 25 or older) years of age and is currently trained in camp management by a National Camping School, with at least two seasons of prior administrative or supervisory experience recommended...
  • M27: The on-site program director is at least 21 years of age and is currently trained by a National Camping School as a program director for the appropriate program element (Cub Scouting/Boy Scouting)...
  • M35: There must be a minimum of two adult leaders with each unit and/or campsite.

  • 95: 95 Sports, as outlined in the Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program Guide, receive adequate emphasis in the program under the basic principle that each boy gets to learn the rules and play, regardless of ability.
