The Business merit badge was one of the original 57 merit badges issued by the Boy Scouts of America in 1911.
It replaced the 1910 Clerk "Badge of Merit".
Business requirements at inception
- Write a satisfactory business, and a personal letter.
- State fundamental principles of buying and selling.
- Know simple bookkeeping.
- Keep a complete and actual account of personal receipts and expenditures for six months.
- State how much money would need to be invested at 5 per cent. to earn his weekly allowance of spending money for a year.
