Amateur Radio Operator Rating Strip requirements

  1. Be a registered youth or adult member with a valid amateur radio license, of any class, issued by the Federal Communications Commission.

Notes

A GMRS license from Radio Shack is not an amateur radio license and does not fulfill the requirement for this award.
Only the current Technician, General, and Extra Class licenses and the grandfathered Novice and Advanced licenses from the FCC are valid amateur radio licenses.
