Once a coveted award for participation in an international Scouting event, the World Crest badge may now be worn on the uniform by all Scouts and Scouters to signify membership in the World Scouting Movement. In place of earning the World Crest badge (which, prior to 1989, required participation in an international Scouting event or activity lasting five days or more), Scouts and Scouters can earn the International Spirit Award.
It is worn centered above the left pocket, midway between the top of the pocket and the shoulder seam. There are two "ring emblems" that can be worn on top of the World Crest badge:
- Centennial ring emblem — ScoutShop.org
- Messengers of Peace ring emblem
