Please be sure that, if you edit an article, you don't delete any category that's listed on it. :) BartHumphries 19:02, November 1, 2015 (EST)

Hi Bart! I presume you're referring to this edit, where I removed Category:Protected Boy Scout requirement pages. Could you please help me understand what "protected" means in this context? I presumed that if I could edit the page, it wasn't protected, and therefore, the category was there in error. Thanks! GoingBatty 20:14, November 1, 2015 (EST)
P.S. When I made my last post, I received a message stating "Your edit includes new external links. To help protect against automated spam, please type the two words you see in the box below:" However, the Captcha asks me to enter a number, not two words. Who is the right person to fix the instructions? Thanks! GoingBatty 20:18, November 1, 2015 (EST)
The Captcha will display what it will display -- it used to always be two words, but now it displays what it wants to display. The page says that it's protected, but not all pages that say they're protected have actually been protected. Feel free to edit what you can when you see an error and if it turns out that edits were made in a terribly improper manner, then the page will actually be protected (and/or your editing rights may be revoked). Hope that helps. :) BartHumphries 20:23, November 1, 2015 (EST)
I appreciate the quick reply, but I still don't understand. Could you please help me understand the benefit of having Category:Protected Boy Scout requirement pages on a non-protected page? Thanks! GoingBatty 20:27, November 1, 2015 (EST)
There is no benefit. It's a page that traditionally would be protected on this wiki, but currently isn't. BartHumphries 21:45, November 1, 2015 (EST)
So since there is no benefit to having the category on an unprotected page, why did you restore the category and ask me not to delete categories? GoingBatty 21:52, November 1, 2015 (EST)
That's an excellent point. I just saw a category being deleted and presumed that it should be there. Perhaps I should have given that a little bit more thought before restoring it. :) BartHumphries 23:02, November 1, 2015 (EST)
